This privacy policy explains how the Gav Notch Android application (“the app”, “we”, “our”) handles information. Gav Notch is developed by Jonty Bamrah.
01Information We Collect
We collect nothing.
Gav Notch does not gather personal information, usage analytics, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, location data, contacts, photos, files, or any other user data. We do not require an account, a sign-in, or an email address to use the app.
The app does not request the INTERNET permission. This means it is technically incapable of sending data off your device, to us or to anyone else.
02Information Stored On Your Device
Gav Notch saves your preferences locally so the app remembers your setup between launches. These settings are:
- The selected notch style
- Notch height, width, and corner radius
- Whether the notch overlay is turned on
- Whether the white status bar icons option is turned on
These values describe only your visual preferences. They contain nothing that identifies you or your device. They are stored in the app’s private storage, readable only by the app, and are permanently deleted when you uninstall Gav Notch.
03Android System Backup
Android includes an automatic backup feature. If you have device backup enabled in your Android settings, your Gav Notch preferences described in section 2 may be included in your own Google account backup, in the same way as data from other apps on your device.
This backup is performed by Android and Google, not by us. We have no access to it and cannot read it. It is governed by Google’s privacy policy. You can control or disable this in your device’s system settings under backup options.
04Permissions And Why They Are Needed
Display over other apps SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW
Required to draw the notch on top of the screen so it remains visible while you use other apps. This permission allows the app to display its own graphics over other apps. It does not give the app the ability to read, record, capture, or inspect the contents of your screen, and Gav Notch does not attempt to do so.
Foreground service FOREGROUND_SERVICE FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE
Required to keep the notch on screen while you use your device. Android requires apps that continue running in the background to declare a foreground service.
Notifications POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Android requires a foreground service to display an ongoing notification. Gav Notch shows a single, silent, lowest-priority notification that indicates the notch is active and provides a way back into the app. We do not send promotional, marketing, or any other notifications.
Gav Notch does not request access to the internet, storage, camera, microphone, location, contacts, notification contents, or accessibility services.
05Third-Party Services
Gav Notch contains no advertising networks, no analytics libraries, no crash reporting services, and no third-party tracking SDKs. No third party receives any information through the app.
06Children’s Privacy
Gav Notch does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. It contains no ads, no in-app purchases, and no user-generated content.
07Data Retention And Deletion
Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. To remove the preferences stored on your device, either clear the app’s data through your device settings or uninstall the app.
08Changes To This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
