This Privacy Policy explains how Launcher Jay Nine (“the app”, “we”, “us”), developed by Jonty Bamrah, handles information when you use it on your Android device.
01Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information.
Launcher Jay Nine does not have the Android internet permission, so it cannot send any data from your device to us or to anyone else. It contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash-reporting services and no third-party tracking libraries. We do not require an account or sign-in.
02Information The App Uses On Your Device
To work as a home screen, Launcher Jay Nine uses the following information. All of it is processed and stored only on your device.
| What | Why it is used | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| List of installed apps(names, icons, package names) | To show your apps in the app list and on the home screen, and to open them when you tap them. | Read from Android when needed; not stored except as described below. |
| Your preferences(favorite apps, hidden apps, theme, clock style, label size, widget layout and other settings) | To remember how you have set up your home screen. | In the app’s private storage on your device. |
| Background photo(only if you choose one) | To show your chosen photo behind the home screen. You select it through Android’s system photo picker; the app only receives the single photo you pick. A copy is saved so it remains available. | In the app’s private storage on your device. |
| Wallpaper | If you choose “Current wallpaper”, Android displays your existing wallpaper behind the launcher. The app reads only the wallpaper’s general colors (to show a small color preview in Settings), not the image itself. If you pick a photo, the app can set it as your system wallpaper at your request. | Handled by Android. |
| Home screen widgets(only if you add them) | To display widgets from other apps on your home screen. Widget content is supplied directly by the app that owns the widget; Launcher Jay Nine only displays it. | Widget data is managed by Android and the widget’s own app. |
03Accessibility Service
Launcher Jay Nine includes an optional Accessibility Service called “Launcher Jay Nine – double-tap to lock”.
- What it is used for: only to (1) lock your screen when you double-tap an empty area of the home screen, and (2) open the notification panel when you swipe down on the home screen.
- What it does not do: it does not read, collect, store or share any content on your screen, what you type, or any other personal or sensitive information. It is not configured to retrieve window content, and it does not observe other apps.
- It is off by default. It works only if you turn it on yourself in Android Settings → Accessibility, and you can turn it off at any time. All other features of the app work without it.
04Permissions
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Visibility of installed apps(launcher apps only) | To list and open the apps installed on your device. |
Set wallpaper SET_WALLPAPER | To apply your chosen photo as the system wallpaper, only when you ask it to. |
Request uninstall REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES | To show Android’s own uninstall confirmation when you choose “Uninstall” for an app. Nothing is removed unless you confirm in the Android dialog. |
Expand status bar EXPAND_STATUS_BAR | To open the notification panel when you swipe down on the home screen. |
| Bind app widgets(granted by you per widget) | To show widgets you add to the home screen. Android asks for your permission. |
| Accessibility Service(optional) | See section 3. |
05Sharing Of Information
We do not share, sell, rent or trade any information with third parties, because we do not collect any.
06Device Backup
If you have Android’s backup feature turned on (for example, Google backup), Android may include Launcher Jay Nine’s settings and your chosen background photo in your device backup, so they can be restored on a new device. This backup is performed by Android and your backup provider, not by Launcher Jay Nine, and is governed by that provider’s privacy policy (for Google, see policies.google.com/privacy). You can turn backup off in your Android settings.
07Data Retention And Deletion
All information the app keeps is stored on your device. You can delete it at any time by:
- clearing the app’s storage in Android Settings → Apps → Launcher Jay Nine → Storage → Clear storage, or
- uninstalling the app.
Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
08Children’s Privacy
Launcher Jay Nine does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country).
09Security
Your settings and background photo are kept in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot access under Android’s security model. The app makes no network connections.
10Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
